He was born on May  28, 1951 in Irapuato, Guanajuato. With studies at the Academy of San Carlos  from 1969 to 1972, he is considered by Carlos Montemayor as the third great artist from Guanajuato, along with Diego Rivera and José Chávez Morado. His  work is intimately linked to music, particularly jazz.
